Answer:

  a) maximum of 2.4 at x=-2

  b) minimum of -0.3 at x=1

Step-by-step explanation:

A cubic function that is not monotonic will have one maximum and one minimum. If the leading coefficient is positive (as here), the maximum will have an x-coordinate that is less than that of the minimum.

The graph shows the extrema you're looking for.

evaluate the expression: v ⋅ w given the vectors: r = <8, 8, -6>; v = <3, -8, -3>; w = <-4, -2, -6> (2 points)
Stella [2.4K]

The product of the vectors v and w is gotten as; v ⋅ w = 22

<h3>What is the product of the vectors?</h3>

We are given the vectors;

r = <8, 8, -6>

v = <3, -8, -3>

w = <-4, -2, -6>

We want to evaluate v.w which is a product of both vectors.

The formula will be;

v.w = (v_x * w_x) + (v_y * w_y) + (v_z * w_z)

Plugging in the values and solving gives;

v.w = (3 * -4) + (-8 * -2) + (-3 * -6)

v.w = -12 + 16 + 18

v.w = 22

We can conclude that the vector expressions has a product of 22

PLZ HURRY IT'S URGENT!!
Jet001 [13]

Answer:

OPTION C: 60%

Step-by-step explanation:

Chances of raining the next day + Chances that it will not rain = 100%

One of them should definitely be true.

So, if the chance of it raining tomorrow is 40% then there is 60% chance that it will not rain tomorrow.

This can also seen as follows:

Probability of rain tomorrow + Probability of no rain = 1

Given Probability of rain tomorrow = 40% = $ \frac{40}{100} = \frac{2}{5} $

Probability of no rain tomorrow = 1 - Probability of rain tomorrow

⇒ Probability of no rain = 1 - $ \frac{2}{5} $

⇒ Probability of no rain = $ \frac{3}{5} $

Expressing it as percentage: $ \frac{3}{5} \times 100 $ = 60%.

A rectangle has side lengths of 5 centimeters and 3 centimeters. If the side lengths are doubled, will the area also double?
FromTheMoon [43]
Hey user!

your answer is here..

I don't think that the area of the rectangle will also double if it's sides are doubled.

let us check :D

given :-

length of the rectangle = 5cm

breadth of the rectangle = 3cm

area of the rectangle = l × b

= 5 × 3

= 15 cm²

if the sides of the rectangle is doubled, then the length of the side will be :-

length = 5 × 2 = 10cm

breadth = 3 × 2 = 6cm

area of new rectangle = l × b

= 10 × 6

= 60 cm²

now, double of 15cm² = 15 × 2 = 30cm²

and the area of new rectangle is 60cm²

hence the area won't be double.

cheers!!

HELP PLEASE! solve for x and y.
Mashutka [201]

Answer:

x=24

y = 8 sqrt(3)

Step-by-step explanation:

Since this is a right triangle, we can use sin and cos

sin 30 = opposite/ hypotenuse

sin 30 = y/ 16 sqrt(3)

Multiply each side by 16 sqrt(3)

16 sqrt(3) * sin 30 = y

16 sqrt(3) * 1/2 = y

8 sqrt(3) = y

cos 30 = adjacent/ hypotenuse

            = x/16 sqrt(3)

Multiply each side by 16 sqrt(3)

16 sqrt(3) cos 30 = x

16 sqrt(3) * (sqrt(3)/2) = x

8 * sqrt(3)*sqrt(3)

8 * 3 = x

24 =x
