if a protein is heated to a high temperature, what do you predict would be the most likely effect on the protein?a)the protein w

ould become denatured, losing its shape, and would not be able to function properly. b)the protein would work more efficiently as the higher temperature increased the reaction rate. c)the protein would break apart into the individual amino acids that made up the protein. d)the protein would fold into a different shape and catalyze a different type of biochemical reaction.

Answer:

a)the protein would become denatured, losing its shape, and would not be able to function properly.

Explanation:

Proteins have an ideal temperature to do their job efficiently. When this temperature increases or decreases intensely, the protein will undergo denaturation.

Denaturation is the term that refers to the situation where proteins lose their three-dimensional conformity and consequently all of their function is lost. In addition to temperature, pH can also cause denaturation and this process can also happen with other molecules, but it occurs mainly in proteins.

Is it advantageous for scientists to be able to predict harmful algal blooms
Elis [28]

Yes it is advantageous for scientists to be able to predict harmful algal blooms.

<h3><u>Explanation:</u></h3>

Algae are minute plant like organisms that are unicellular, belonging to Kingdom Protista. The uncontrolled growth of algae over the water bodies is referred to as algal bloom.

Algal bloom has several bad effects. Although they are plants and growth of plants are good for environment, but growth of algae covers up the water surface, restricting the sunlight to enter the inside of water killing aquatic plants, as well as restricting oxygen dissolution, restricting the survival of aquatic animals. Its called eutrophication.

Algae sometimes also produce toxins which are harmful for both aquatic animals and unfit for human consumption. So the prediction of toxic algal bloom can led to taking measures to curb the bloom and saving the animals and plants from being death.
