B.) 1.32 miles.

Use the distance formula to help you find how far it is from one point to another. The distance formula is:
d =  \sqrt{(x _{2} - x _{1}){}^{2}  + (y _{2}  - y _{1}) {}^{2}    }
You will have to use this formula twice.

So first is the distance between his house and the library. The coordinates of the house are (0,0) and the coordinates of the library are (3,4). So in that order, x1=0, x2=3, y1=0, and y2=4. Plug these into the formula and you get:
d =  \sqrt{(3 - 0) {}^{2}  + (4 - 0) {}^{2} }
Simplify that and you get √(9+16), which is equal to √25, or 5. This is your first answer.

Next use the same formula to find the distance between the library and the school. This time x1=3, x2=11, y1=4, and y2=2. Plug thisninto the formula and you get:
d =  \sqrt{(11 - 3) {}^{2}   + (2 - 4) {}^{2} }
Simplify this and you get √(64+4), which is equal to √68, or approximately 8.25.

Add the two distances together, so 5+8.25=13.25, then multiply that by 0.1, since each square is equal to 0.1 miles. You should get 1.32.

A student took a system of equations, multiplied the first equation by 2 and the second equation by 3, then added the results to
egoroff_w [7]

Answer:

system 4.

Step-by-step explanation:

3x+6y=9

multiply by 2

6x+12y=18   ....(1)

-2x+-4y=4

multiply by 3

-6x-12y=12   ...(2)

add (1) and (2)

0+0=30

which is impossible .It has no solutions.

Question 5^ Need help ... ASAP ... your help is really appreciated ...
goblinko [34]

Answer:

See below

Step-by-step explanation:

I think we had a question similar to this before. Again, let's figure out the vertical and horizontal distances figured out. The distance from C at x=8 to D at x=-5 is 13 units while the distance from C at y=-2 to D at y=9 is 11 units. (8+5=13 and 2+9=11, even though some numbers are negative, we're looking at their value in those calculations)

Next, we have to divide each distance by 4 so we can apply it to the ratio. 13/4=\frac{13}{4} and 11/4=\frac{11}{4}. Next, we need to read the question carefully. It's asking us to place the point in the ratio <em>3</em> to <em>1</em> from <em>C</em> to <em>D</em>. The point has to be closer to endpoint D because of this. Let's take each of our fractions, multiply them by 3, then add them towards the direction of endpoint D to get our answer (sorry if that sounds confusing):

\frac{13}{4}*3 = \frac{39}{4}\\ 8-\frac{39}{4} =  \frac{-7}{4}\\\frac{11}{4}*3 = \frac{33}{4}  \\-2+\frac{33}{4} = \frac{25}{4}

Therefore, our point that partitions CD into a 3:1 ratio is (\frac{-7}{4}, \frac{25}{4}).

I'm not sure if there was more to #5 judging by how part B was cut off. From what I can understand of part B, however, I believe that Beatriz started from endpoint D and moved towards C, the wrong direction. She found the coordinates for a 1:3 ratio point.

Also, for #6, since a square is a 2-dimensional object, the answer needs to be written showing that. The answer for #6 is 9 units^2.

What is the difference between a repeating decimal and a terminating decimal?
Pani-rosa [81]

Answer:

Terminating decimals have a finite number of digits after the decimal point while Repeating decimals have one or more numbers or sequences of repeating numbers after the decimal point.
