How do you find a missing side of a triangle using SOH CAH TOA

Mathematics

Answer:

See explanation and attachment

Step-by-step explanation:

SOH CAH TOA is a mnemonic.

SOH means \sin \theta=\frac{Opposite}{Hypotenuse}

CAH means \cos \theta =\frac{Opposite}{Hypotenuse}

TOA means \tan \theta=\frac{Opposite}{Adjacent}

Given an angle and a side of a right angle triangle, you can use the appropriate ratio to find the missing side.

For instance, find x in the diagram in the attachment.

In this case the best ratio to use is TOA.

\tan 60\degree=\frac{\sqrt{3} }{x}

\implies x=\frac{\sqrt{3} }{\tan 60}

x=\frac{\sqrt{3} }{\sqrt{3} } =1

All the other ratio also follow the same pattern

NB: Your calculator in degree should give  \tan 60\degree=\sqrt{3}

Customers at an ice-cream shop took a survey. The results showed that 144 customers rates the shop as being "very satisfactory."
IRISSAK [1]
144 is 45% of the total customers who took the survey.

Total customers who took survey= 144 × 100/45 = 320

lianna [129]
Half hour means 30 minutes.

Since their are 8 minutes of commercials and 0.25 minutes long.

Divide

8/0.25 = 32

Their will be 32 commercials that will be shown during the show.

What are the period P and frequency T of oscillation of a pendulum of length one halfft? (Hint: Upper P equals 2 pi StartRoot S
guajiro [1.7K]

Answer:

P'=P \sqrt{\dfrac{1}{2}}

T ' = √2 T

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that

Time period = P

Frequency = T

We know that time period for pendulum given as

P=2\pi \sqrt{\dfrac{L}{g}}

When the length become half then time period will become p'

L'=L/2

P'=2\pi \sqrt{\dfrac{L'}{g}}

P'=2\pi \sqrt{\dfrac{L}{2g}}

P'=P \sqrt{\dfrac{1}{2}}

It means that time period will become 0.707 P.

We know that frequency T

T= 1 /P

T'  = 1/P'

T'=√2/P

T ' = √2 T

Can you prove it??<br>it's hard,I tried but couldn't solve this.
BARSIC [14]

I'll abbreviate s=\sin\theta and c=\cos\theta, so the identity to prove is

\dfrac{s+c+1}{s+c-1}-\dfrac{1+s-c}{1-s+c}=2\left(1+\dfrac1s\right)

On the left side, we can simplify a bit:

\dfrac{s+c+1}{s+c-1}=\dfrac{s+c-1+2}{s+c-1}=1+\dfrac2{s+c-1}

\dfrac{1+s-c}{1-s+c}=-\dfrac{-2+1-s+c}{1-s+c}=-1+\dfrac2{1-s+c}

Then

\dfrac{s+c+1}{s+c-1}-\dfrac{1+s-c}{1-s+c}=2\left(1+\dfrac1{s+c-1}-\dfrac1{1-s+c}\right)

So the establish the original equality, we need to show that

\dfrac1{s+c-1}-\dfrac1{1-s+c}=\dfrac1s

Combine the fractions:

\dfrac{(1-s+c)-(s+c-1)}{(s+c-1)(1-s+c)}=\dfrac{2-2s}{c^2-s^2+2s-1}

We can rewrite the denominator as

c^2-s^2+2s-1=c^2+s^2-2s^2+2s-1

then using the fact that c^2+s^2=\cos^2\theta+\sin^2\theta=1, we get

1-2s^2+2s-1=2s-2s^2

so that we have

\dfrac1{s+c-1}-\dfrac1{1-s+c}=\dfrac{2-2s}{2s-2s^2}=\dfrac1s

as desired.
