What fraction of side per hour

you
= 1 side / 2 hrs
= 1/2 side/hr

brother
= 1 side / 3 hrs
= 1/3 side/hr

combined rate
= 1/3 + 1/2
= (1/3)(2/2) + (1/2)(3/3)
= 2/6 + 3/6
= 5/6 side/hr

after 2 hrs you are done with your side, brother has 2*(1/3) = 2/3 done.
3/3 - 2/3 = 1/3 left to paint

(1/3 side)*(6 hr / 5 side) = 2/5 hr
2/5 hr * 60 min/hr = 24 min

What is solution of 8x-2y =1 and -4x+y = 3
Maksim231197 [3]

Answer: it has no solution

Step-by-step explanation:

8x - 2y = 1 ..................... equation 1

-4x + y = 3 ...................... equation 2

solving the system of linear equation by substitution method . From equation 2 , make y the subject of the formula.

y = 3 + 4x .......................... equation 3

substitute equation 3 into equation 1 .

8x - 2(3 + 4x ) = 1

8x - 6 - 8x = 1

8x- 8x - 6 = 1

-6 = 1

this means that the equation has no solution

Find the slope of the line through each pair of points.
Fudgin [204]

Answer: slope = ¹¹/₁₃

Step-by-step explanation:

The question gives us two points, (−13, −19) & (13, 3), from which we can find the slope and later the equation of the line.

Finding the Slope

The slope of the line (m) = (y₂ - y₁) ÷ (x₂ - x₁)

                                          = ((3 - (-19)) ÷ (13 - (-13))

                                          = 22 ÷ 26

                                          = ¹¹/₁₃

Checking my answer:

We can now use the point-slope form (y - y₁) = m(x - x₁)) to write the equation for this line. If the line passes through both of the points then we calculated the slope correctly.

                                ⇒ y + 19 = ¹¹/₁₃ (x + 13)

I have included a Desmos Graph that I graphed using the information equation (including the slope) and the points given.
