Tne pelagic zone, often referred to as the open ocean zone additionally, coastal waster that is not near the bottom of the shore can sometimes be considered part of this zone. As such, zooplankton which are basically plankton, are organisms that drift in the oceans, seas and in fresh water. They range in sizes from microscopic to larger in size such as jellyfish. Zooplankton is the most abundant animal found in the pelagic zone. They are considered to be the most abundant in this particular zone.
