The area of a rectangular wall of a barn is 85 square feet. Its length is 12 feet longer than the width. Find the length and wid
MaRussiya [10]

Answer:

Length = 17 feet, Width = 5 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

The area of a rectangular wall of a barn is 85 square feet.

Its length is 12 feet longer than the width.

Question asked:

Find the length and width of the wall of the barn.

Solution:

Let width of a rectangular wall of a barn = x

<u>As length is 12 feet longer than the width.</u>

Length of a rectangular wall of a barn = 12+x

As we know:

Area\ of\ rectangle=length\times breadth

85=(12+x)x\\\\85=12x+x^{2} \\

Subtracting both sides by 85

x^{2} +12x-85=0\\x^{2} +17x-5x-85=0\\Taking\ common\\x+(x+17)-5x(x+17)=0\\(x+17)(x-5)=0\\x+17=0, x-5=0\\x=-17,x=5

As width can never be in negative, hence  width of a rectangular wall of a barn = x = 5 feet

Length of a rectangular wall of a barn = 12+x=12+5=17\ feet

Therefore, length and width of the wall of the barn is 17 feet and 5 feet respectively.

What set of refections would carry trapezoid ABCD onto itself?
BaLLatris [955]
Hello!

Trapezoid ABCD is shown. A is at negative 5, 1. B is at negative 4, 3. C is at negative 2, 3. D is at negative 1, 1.
A) x-axis, y=x, y-axis, x-axis
b) x-axis, y-axis, x-axis
c) y=x, x-axis, x-axis
d) y-axis, x-axis, y-axis, x-axis
The best answer is C180 rotation wud take that point to 4th quadrant
reflection in x-axis takes that to 1st quadrant
<span>reflection in y-axis brings it back to 2nd quadrant again. So, the sequence of transformations will  bring A back to where it started

Hope this Helps! :)

Consider randomly selecting a student at a large university. Let A be the event that the selected student has a Visa card, let B
wariber [46]

Answer:

a. 0.76

b. 0.23

c. 0.5

d. p(B/A) is the probability that given that a student has a visa card, they also have a master card

p(A/B) is the probability that given a student has a master card, they also have a visa card

e. 0.35

f. 0.31

Step-by-step explanation:

a. p(AUBUC)= P(A)+P(B)+P(C)-P(AnB)-P(AnC)-P(BnC)+P(AnBnC)

                    =0.6+0.4+0.2-0.3-0.11-0.1+0.07= 0.76

b. P(AnBnC')= P(AnB)-P(AnBnC)

                    =0.3-0.07= 0.23

c. P(B/A)= P(AnB)/P(A)

             =0.3/O.6= 0.5

e. P((AnB)/C))= P((AnB)nC)/P(C)

                     =P(AnBnC)/P(C)

                     =0.07/0.2= 0.35

f. P((AUB)/C)= P((AUB)nC)/P(C)

                    =(P(AnC) U P(BnC))/P(C)

                     =(0.11+0.1)/0.2

                     =0.21/0.2 = 0.31
