Claude Von Clausewitz fue un teórico militar alemán, conocido principalmente por sus participaciones defendiendo a Prusia en las Guerras Napoleónicas.

Clausewitz creía que las guerras eran solo otra forma de resolución de conflictos políticos, es decir, un instrumento legítimo de resolución de controversias (aunque obviamente, no el mas deseable por su costo en vidas y en dinero). Es decir, Clausewitz no veía las divergencias políticas como enriquecedoras o constructivas, sino simplemente como cuestiones de conflicto y violencia.
