Oppression based on gender is called sexism.

Explanation:

Oppression based on gender, i.e. sexism is different from other types of oppression because in sexism, discrimination is done typically against women. Women are treated inferior to men and men dominate in patriarchal society. They are not given equal rights as men.

In others types, oppression is against a whole community of a different religion (racism), prejudice based on mental or physical ability (ableism), hatred of being homosexual (homophobia), promoting interests of native people (nativism). This is not based on gender, whether it is man or woman, oppression is done.
