2x-4y=0 -x+2y=1 trying to solve

Mathematics

So you have your equations: 2x-4y=0 and -x+2y=1

Depending on the variable you want to take out, depends on how your equation will be set up, but, I'm going to take out X.

With the first equation you subtract 2x from 0 which leaves you with -4y=-2

Divide the sum and you get a positive 2x.

Plug 2 into X on the following equation, it should look like this. -2+2y=1. This time you're trying to find Y so, add 2 to 1 and you get 2y=3. Divide this and it should give you a decimal.

The cost of a jacket increased from $85.00 to $94.35. What is the percentage increase of the cost of the jacket?
Serggg [28]
It's an 11% increase. To find this,  you have to subtract 85 from 94.35 and then you divide that difference by the original amount. In this case it's 85. After that, you get .11. Then you just turn it into a percent.

How much 20% solution needs to be added to a 60% solution to make 400 ml of a 40% solution
Scorpion4ik [409]

Let x be the volume of 20% solution, y the volume of the 60% solution. We want a total volume of 400 mL in the final mixture, so

x+y=400

Each mL of either solution will contribute a corresponding concentration, and in the final mixture we want the 400 mL to have a 40% concentration, which means we should also have

0.2x+0.6y=0.4\times400=160

Solve the system and we get x=y=200\,\rm{mL}.

Write out steps on how to solve 21.4divided by 4.75
Natasha_Volkova [10]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

21.4÷4.75

  • First- you have to move the decimal placement two times to the right
  • Second- you have to put the number 21.4 under the dividing box
  • Third- put the number 4.75 out to the left of the decimal box
  • Fourth- when that's all completed you have to multiply the 475. until you get clos to the number 2140.
  • Fifth- once done you have to subtract the multiplied number that you get you then subtract it from 2140
  • Sixth- you keep on doing the fifth step until you get a reasonable answer
  • Seventh- you write the answer down
  • Eighth- there is no eighth step so you can stop reading this answer
