How do you know if a square root of something is rational or irrational? like i know it can be represented by a fraction or a ra
ra1l [238]
The square root of a whole number will be rational if the whole number is a perfect square (i.e 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81, 100, 121, 144 etc) and irrational otherwise.

Rational number is a number that can be described as m/n

so a fraction can be a rational number, 0.8=4/5
Irrational numbers can't be written as a fraction

The part about the number having to be a perfect square is still correct, if it's not a prefect square than it will just keep going(a decimal that never ends)

for example the square root of 0.64 is 0.8
and the square root of 10 is 3.162277...
as you can see the 0.64 one ends and is rational, whereas the 10 one just keeps going and is irrational.

Trigonometry

[Right Triangles Only] Pythagorean Theorem: a² + b² = c²

  • a is a leg
  • b is another leg
  • c is the hypotenuse

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Identify

a = x + 3

b = x

c = √117

Step 2: Solve for x

  1. Substitute [PT]:                                                                                                (x + 3)² + x² = (√117)²
  2. Expand [FOIL]:                                                                                                 x² + 6x + 9 + x² = (√117)²
  3. Combine like terms:                                                                                       2x² + 6x + 9 = (√117)²
  4. Exponents:                                                                                                      2x² + 6x + 9 = 117
  5. [SPE] Subtract 117 on both sides:                                                                    2x² + 6x - 108 = 0
  6. Factor out GCF:                                                                                               2(x² + 3x - 54) = 0
  7. [DPE] Divide 2 on both sides:                                                                         x² + 3x - 54 = 0
  8. Factor Quadratic:                                                                                            (x - 6)(x + 9) = 0
  9. Solve roots/solve x:                                                                                         x = -9, 6

Since we are dealing with positive values, we can disregard the negative root.

∴ x = 6

80 books to 64 books percent of change
Alecsey [184]

Answer:

-20%

Step-by-step explanation:

64 to 80⬇

((64 - 80 / 64)) × 100 = 25 %

Therefore, your answer would have to be: 25% since it increased

Or you can try going with this method as well

80 to 64 ⬇

((80 - 64 / 80 )) × 100 = -20%

Therefore, for that method your answer would be-20% because it decreased

When divided by 5, I am 60. When divided by 6, I am 50. What number am I?
faltersainse [42]
You do 60 × 5 = 300, which should be the answer. We can double check this by doing 50 × 6 = 300. So the answer is 300
