Answer:

The researchers were unable to grow the microbe in the laboratory BECAUSE THE PREVAILING ROOM TEMPERATURE IN THE LABORATORY IS UNSUITABLE FOR THE GROWTH OF THE MICROBE.

Explanation:

Microbes that grow near deep sea thermal vent usually have the ability to exist in environment that have abnormally high temperatures. In order for a researcher to grow such microbes in the laboratory, he must be able to reproduce the high temperature that is found in the natural habitat of the micro organisms. Growing the microbes in the laboratory at room temperature will be unsuccessful because the microbes can not survive at that temperature.

Which of the following statements is true of offspring from organisms that reproduce asexually?
Veronika [31]
A) the offspring are genetically identical to the parent.
The reason for this is that there are no different traits being passed down that could alter the offspring's appearance. If there is sexual reproduction, then the offspring shares both of the parent's traits. If there is only one parent, then there is less diversity. <span />

Name two specific ranges that enzymes must have.
monitta

Answer:

Similarly, enzymes can only function in a certain pH range (acidic/alkaline). Their preference depends on where they are found in the body. For instance, enzymes in the intestines work best at 7.5 pH, whereas enzymes in the stomach work best at pH 2 because the stomach is much more acidic.

Why is crossing over an essential step in meiosis
marshall27 [118]

Crossing over is essential for the normal segregation of chromosomes during meiosis. Crossing over also accounts for genetic variation, because due to the swapping of genetic material during crossing over, the chromatids held together by the centromere are no longer identical.
