The adaptive immune response has different functions. It recognises the presence of antigens that are considered as a strange presence and this occurs during the Antigen presentation. After that, this response activates different kinds of strategies targeting the pathogens or infected cells in order to eliminate them. As a result, it developes inmunological memory, in order to remember this pathogens and avoid an infection in the future. This is a highly specif system and vaccination is based on it.
