Both, if the spinal cord is injured then you can experience nerve damage in almost any part of your body. Or your whole body. Tingling in parts of your body might occur.

The white matter of spinal cord contains two type of tracts- Ascending tracts and Descending tracts.

Ascending tracts transmit sensory information from its sensory receptors to a higher level of the central nervous system. Descending tracts sends motor signals from the brain to lower motor neurons. So the individual experience deficit in sensation if he sustains injuries in ascending tracts only. However, there will be chances of other deficit experiences.
