A scientist wants to test whether the pH, salinity, and temperature of seawater impacts coral development. He sets up an experim

ent with three conditions: Aquarium 1: Normal pH, normal salinity, normal temperature Aquarium 2: High pH, high salinity, high temperature Aquarium 3: Low pH, low salinity, low temperature He finds that coral grow the least in Aquarium 2. He concludes that coral does not grow well in conditions with high salt. Why is this an invalid conclusion?

He was testing more than one variable in the aquarium which would change the outcome of the experiment. it could have been the Ph levels or the temperature of the water.

In the given experiment, the scientist is checking for the effect of more than one variable on the development of the coral, which includes the pH, the salinity, and the temperature. The conclusion that the coral do not grow in the water with high salinity is wrong as in that aquarium, the pH, and the temperature were also high. They could also have been the factors behind the decreased growth of the corals. One variable should be tested at a single time to arrive at a valid conclusion.

Use this information to answer questions 6 - 11. Your original population of
grigory [225]

Answer:

1. How did the tidal wave  affect the predicted frequencies of the alleles in the population?

No changes

2. What is the frequency of the recessive allele?

q= 0.6

Explanation:

If we assume that all individuals were equally likely to be wiped out, that means the frequency/ratio of the gene and genotype of the population will not change. The tidal wave killing 100 out of 200, so it simply makes the population become half of it used to be.

If the population at equilibrium, we can use the Hardy-Weinberg formula to find out the expected frequency of the dominant and recessive alleles. There are 36 homozygous recessives out of 100, so the frequency of the recessive allele will be:

q^2 = 36/100

q= √36/100= 6/10= 0.6

Compare the structure of prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms.
pav-90 [236]

Answer:

Explanation:

Eukaryotic cells are cells that contains a membrane bound organelles this include the nucleus while prokaryotic cells do not have a membrane bound nucleus.

Eukaryotic cells have more than one One chromosome while prokaryotic cell has one chromosome that is not true chromosome.

Eukaryotic cell have a multicellular cell type while prokaryotic cell have a unicellular except for some cyanobacteria that may be multicellular.

Cell wall is present in eukaryote only in plant cells and fungi and it chemically simpler while prokaryote cell wall is Usually chemically complex
