To prevent the president from ideologically slanting the judiciary, what powers does Congress have?

Congress has the power to advise and consent on judicial nominees.

This means that Congress has the power to approve or reject Presidential nominees to the judiciary.

The effect of this is that if there is an opposition Congress (Congress from a different party) then Congress has the ability to shape the type of nominees they are getting from the President as nominees that are too far afield from Congress will not be approved.

If Congress aligns with the President's ideology, then there is no check.

A. Identify the percentage of baby boomers who identified as Independents in 2014. B. Describe a trend in the data. C. Explain h
masya89 [10]

The percentage of independent baby boomers in 2014 is 37%. The trend in the data is to increase the percentage. This would affect future political campaigns because independents do not identify with a specific party.

The graph shows the percentages of the generations that identify themselves as politically independent from 2000 to 2014.

According to the graph, millennials are the generation that most identify as independent with 50%; Generation X is the second generation with 39%; the third is the Boomers generation with 37% and the last is the Silent generation with 32%.

According to this graph, it can also be established that the percentage of people who identify with independent political tendencies has increased because they have increased over time. For example:

  • Millenials - 2000 (38%), 2014 (50%)
  • Gen X - 2000 (35%), 2014 (39%)
  • Boomer - 2000 (31%), 2014 (37%)
  • Silent - 2000 (25%), 2014 (32%)
