Looking at the line on the graph, we can use a couple of point off of it, to get the slope, hmm the line is passing through -4,4 and 0,1, so let's use those,

\bf \begin{array}{ccccccccc}
&&x_1&&y_1&&x_2&&y_2\\
%  (a,b)
&&(~ -4 &,& 4~)
%  (c,d)
&&(~ 0 &,& 1~)
\end{array}
\\\\\\
% slope  = m
slope =  m\implies
\cfrac{\stackrel{rise}{ y_2- y_1}}{\stackrel{run}{ x_2- x_1}}\implies \cfrac{1-4}{0-(-4)}\implies \cfrac{1-4}{0+4}\implies \cfrac{-3}{4}

I got c which is 100 but I don’t know how jerry got A
Anna007 [38]

Choice C is the correct answer because

\frac{(6+2)^3-12}{5}\\\\\frac{(8)^3-12}{5}\\\\\frac{512-12}{5}\\\\\frac{500}{5}\\\\100\\\\

So in short, \frac{(6+2)^3-12}{5}=100\\\\

------------------------------------------

The mistake Jerry likely made was that he only cubed the 2 and didn't realize the 6 was part of that cubing process. It seems he didn't add first and decided to cube before adding.

This is probably what steps Jerry did

\frac{6+2^3-12}{5}\\\\\frac{6+8-12}{5}\\\\\frac{14-12}{5}\\\\\frac{2}{5}\\\\

But as mentioned, those steps are incorrect because the 6 is part of the cubing operation. In other words, Jerry should have added the 6+2 first before cubing afterward (due to PEMDAS determining the order of operations).

Or you could think of it like this

\frac{(6+2)^3-12}{5}\\\\\frac{(6+2)(6+2)(6+2)-12}{5}\\\\\frac{(8)(8)(8)-12}{5}\\\\\frac{512-12}{5}\\\\\frac{500}{5}\\\\100

What are the x-intercepts of the graph of the quadratic function
Svetllana [295]
  • Zero Product Property: if a × b = 0, then either a or b = 0 or both a and b = 0.

(Make sure to set f(x) to zero)

So for this equation, I will be factoring by grouping. Firstly, what two terms have a product of -5x^2 and a sum of 4x? That would be 5x and -x. Replace 4x with 5x - x: 0=5x^2+5x-x-1

Next, factor 5x^2 + 5x and -x - 1 separately. Make sure that they have the same quantity on the inside: 0=5x(x+1)-1(x+1)

Now you can rewrite the equation as: 0=(5x-1)(x+1)

Now apply zero product property to the factors to solve for x:

5x-1=0\\5x=1\\x=\frac{1}{5}\\\\x+1=0\\x=-1

<u>The x-intercepts are (1/5 ,0) and (-1,0).</u>

Louis bought a giant sub sandwich for the party. He wants to cut into 6-inch sections. If the sandwich is 18.25 feet, how many s
Lynna [10]
36.5
He’d have 36, 6 in sandwiches and a 3 inch section left
Explanation:
Take 18.25 and multiply by 12 which gives you 219. The amount of inches in the sandwich. Then divide 219 by 6 and you get 36.5
