Yes it is a function because if you do the straight verticals line test, a straight line will only hit one point no matter where it's drawn. 2) is max is the highest point and min is lowest point it reaches 3) domain is with the X axis and how long it goes Range is the Y axis on how long it goes. Hope this helps!

a team of 10 players is to be selected from a class of 6 girls and 7 boys. match each scenario to its probability
mars1129 [50]

Step-by-step explanation:

The selection of r objects out of n is done in

many ways.

The total number of selections 10 that we can make from 6+7=13 students is

thus, the sample space of the experiment is 286

A.

"The probability that a randomly chosen team includes all 6 girls in the class."

total number of group of 10 which include all girls is C(7, 4), because the girls are fixed, and the remaining 4 is to be completed from the 7 boys, which can be done in C(7, 4) many ways.

P(all 6 girls chosen)=35/286=0.12

B.

"The probability that a randomly chosen team has 3 girls and 7 boys."

with the same logic as in A, the number of groups were all 7 boys are in, is

so the probability is 20/286=0.07

C.

"The probability that a randomly chosen team has either 4 or 6 boys."

case 1: the team has 4 boys and 6 girls

this was already calculated in part A, it is 0.12.

case 2, the team has 6 boys and 4 girls.

there C(7, 6)*C(6, 4) ,many ways of doing this, because any selection of the boys which can be done in C(7, 6) ways, can be combined with any selection of the girls.

the probability is 105/286=0.367

since  case 1 and case 2 are disjoint, that is either one or the other happen, then we add the probabilities:

0.12+0.367=0.487 (approximately = 0.49)

D.

"The probability that a randomly chosen team has 5 girls and 5 boys."

selecting 5 boys and 5 girls can be done in

many ways,

so the probability is 126/286=0.44

When you add 18 to 1/4 of a number you get the number itself
JulijaS [17]
X - the number

\frac{1}{4}x+18=x \\
18=x-\frac{1}{4}x \\
18=\frac{3}{4}x \ \ \ |\times \frac{4}{3} \\
18 \times \frac{4}{3} = x \\
6 \times 4=x \\
x=24

The number is 24.

The price of concert ticket dropped from $177 to $91. What was the precent of decrease in price of tickets? PLEASE HELP ASAP
Pavel [41]

Answer:

The percent of decrease can be calculated with this formula:

(Original value - New Value)/(Original Value)

In this case, the original  value is 117 and the new value is 91.

So  the  percent of  decrease is 26/117, or about 22%.

Hope this helps!

A physics class has 50 students. Of these, 10 students are physics majors and 12 students are female. Of the physics majors, t
mylen [45]

Answer:

38% probability that a randomly selected student is female or a physics major.

Step-by-step explanation:

A probability is the number of desired outcomes divided by the number of total outcomes.

Desired outcomes:

Physics majors or female

10 physics majors(of which 3 are female).

12 female(the 3 female physics majors have already been counted, so we count 9)

D = 10 + 9 = 19

Total outcomes:

50 students, so T = 50

Probability

p = \frac{D}{T} = \frac{19}{50} = 0.38

38% probability that a randomly selected student is female or a physics major.

A consol paying $20 annually when the interest rate is 5 percent has a price of
allsm [11]
Answer:  $ 400 .

Explanation:
_____________________________________
Note that a "consol" is a "perpetuity".
______________________________________________
To find the "PV" (Present Value) of a perpetuity, we use the equation:   PV = C / r  = Current value / interest rate

       = $20 / (5%) = $20 / (5/100) = $20 / (0.05) =  $400 .
