Answer:

P(R_2 -R_1 >0) = P(d>0) = P(z>\frac{0-20}{\sqrt{136}}) = P(z>-1.715)

And we can find this probability using the complement rule and with the normal standard distribution or excel like this:

P(z>-1.715) = 1-P(Z

Step-by-step explanation:

Previous concepts

Normal distribution, is a "probability distribution that is symmetric about the mean, showing that data near the mean are more frequent in occurrence than data far from the mean".

The Z-score is "a numerical measurement used in statistics of a value's relationship to the mean (average) of a group of values, measured in terms of standard deviations from the mean".

Solution to the problem

For this case we have two resistors with the following distributions:

R_1 \sim N (\mu_1 =100, \sigma_1 = 6)

R_2 \sim N (\mu_2 =120, \sigma_2 = 10)

And for this case we want the following probability:

P(R_2 >R_1) = P(R_2 -R_1 >0)

First we need to find the distributon for R_2- R_1

Since both are normally distributed we have that a linear combination of normal distributions is also normal, so then we have this:

d=R_2 -R_1 \sim N (\mu_d=\mu_2-\mu_1 = 120-100= 20, \sigma^2_d=\sigma^2_1 +\sigma^2_2= 36+100=136)

And we can use the z score formula given by:

z= \frac{d-\mu_d}{\sigma_d}

And using this formula we got:

P(R_2 -R_1 >0) = P(d>0) = P(z>\frac{0-20}{\sqrt{136}}) = P(z>-1.715)

And we can find this probability using the complement rule and with the normal standard distribution or excel like this:

P(z>-1.715) = 1-P(Z

A polynomial equation with rational coefficients has the roots 7 + *sqrt* 3 , 2 - *sqrt* 6. Find two additional roots.
Ganezh [65]

Answer:

option: A

Step-by-step explanation:

" if for a polynomial with rational coefficients has irrational roots then these irrational roots will always appear in pair " .

we are given that 7+\sqrt{3} and 2-\sqrt{6} are two roots of a polynomial equation with rational coefficients, then it's complex conjugate is also a root of this polynomial equation i.e. ' 7-\sqrt{3} ' and '  2+\sqrt{6} ' are also roots of this polynomial equation.

Hence, option A is correct.

If x is equal to 2 minus root 3 find the value of x minus one upon X whole cube
Kamila [148]
"2 minus root 3"  =>  2 - sqrt(3)

x does not appear here.  That could cause a problem.

Unsure of what you mean by "x minus one upon X whole cube."  Would you please go back to the original question and ensure that you have copied it down precisely.  Without "x" in your equation, there's nothing to solve for.

Some students do homework with the TV on. Researchers wanted to see if people can work as effectively with distractions as witho
laila [671]

Answer:

Paired test

Step-by-step explanation:

The above research is carried out using a set of participants who were used to gather data under two different conditions. When this type of research is performed there is a match between the two conditions based on the subjects used, hence, we can pair the condition with the subject to obtain a matched pair. This sort of test also called the dependent sample t test. Thses type of test is ideal when the data is quantitative and the data obtained from two groups are dependent.

Mai-Li has 5 1/8 yd of material her new shirt will take 2 3/4 yd how much material will she have left after the skirt is made.
Slav-nsk [51]
First you would have to get them to have the same denomitator so 2 3/4 is the same as 2 6/8 but u cant subtract 1 by 6 so u move 1 8/8 over from 5 1/8 and get 4 9/8 and then u subtract and get 2 3/8
