Explanation

Enslaved person could not testify against a white. Slave codes were a series of codes which codified the behavior of the slave owners and the slaves. Slaves codes were designed by the whites in order to promote the slave labor.

During the time of emancipation proclamation, many slaves were set to be free. Freedman is the person who was set to be free from the clutches of slavery.
