Word problem, Help! Some number was added to 12. This sum was then divided by 8. Finally, the quotient was multiplied by 6.The product was 12. What was the number?

If so:

You can solve the problem by writing the equation x+12/8*6=12. You will get 4

If not:

Work backwards. If the quotient was divided by 6 is 12, then the number must be 2. Something divided by 8 that makes 2 is 16. 16-12 is 4.
