<span>4x - y =5
4x + 4y = -4

Change all the signs of the first equation
-4x + y = -5
Add 4x to both sides
y == 4x - 5

Substitute for y in second equation

4x + 4(4x - 5) = -4

4x + 16x - 20 = -4

20x - 20 = -4

Add 20 to both sides

20x = 16

Divide both sides by 20

x = 16/20 === 4/5

Substitute to find y

y == 4x - 5 == 4(4/5) - 5 == 16/5  - 5 =  -9/5

Annette [7]

Using the binomial distribution, there is a 0.1201 = 12.01% probability that Alysha will win the bet.

<h3>What is the binomial distribution formula?</h3>

The formula is:

P(X = x) = C_{n,x}.p^{x}.(1-p)^{n-x}

C_{n,x} = \frac{n!}{x!(n-x)!}

The parameters are:

  • x is the number of successes.
  • n is the number of trials.
  • p is the probability of a success on a single trial.

For this problem, the parameters are given as follows:

n = 20, p = 0.5.

She wins the bet if there are 12 boys, hence the probability is P(X = 12), found as follows:

P(X = x) = C_{n,x}.p^{x}.(1-p)^{n-x}

P(X = 12) = C_{20,12}.(0.5)^{12}.(0.5)^{8} = 0.1201

0.1201 = 12.01% probability that Alysha will win the bet.

A new car has factory installed tires that are P205/60R16. The owner wants to a little bigger and opts for the set of P215/75R15
xenn [34]

Answer:

The car is actually moving at a speed more than 80 miles per hour

Step-by-step explanation:

Theoretically, since the speedometer of the car is at 80, it means the car is having a speed of 80 miles / hr. The car should move by a distance of 80 miles in an hour.

But, practically changing the tire size can affect the speedometer accuracy because larger tire covers more ground in each complete revolution. So, the  actual speed is higher than the speedometer reads.

<u>Example</u>

Suppose a car comes with factory-installed tires which are 21.8 inches in diameter. It means that the circumference of each tire is 68.5 inches. Now if we replace the old tires with new tires having 24.6 inches as diameter then  each new tire has a circumference of 77.3 inches. This means the car  travels almost 10 inches more with each complete revolution. This can  tremendously affect the reading on the speedometer. The speedometer  will now indicate a speed which is too slow by almost 13%. When the  speedometer reads 60 miles/hour, the car will actually be traveling at a speed of 67.7 miles/hour.

What is the sqaure root of (x-3/7) divided by 12x+7 divided by 76.3x?
natulia [17]

Answer:

\sqrt{\frac{3x}{3} } + \frac{10}{109} x

Step by step:

\sqrt{x-\frac{3}{7} = \sqrt{\frac{49x-21}{7} }

\sqrt{\frac{49x-21}{7} } ÷ 12x+7=\sqrt{\frac{7x-3x}{12}} + 7

\sqrt{\frac{7x-3x}{12}} + 7 ÷ 76.3x = \sqrt{\frac{3x}{3} } + \frac{10}{109} x

Hope this helps!
