Complex carbohydrates mostly contain vitamins, minerals and fibers, which can be found in foods such as beans, grains, peas, and vegetable, and hardly digest on time. Connotatively, they tend to have less immediate impact on blood sugar, as they make it to rise more slowly.

Importantly, Carbohydrates are one of the essential macronutrients that energize and shape the body. The other two are fat and protein. Also, carbohydrates are classified into three:

Sugars: They contain short chains of sugar molecules

Starches: They have longer chains of sugar molecules that should be broken down in the digestion system  

Fibers: These are carbohydrates that cannot be the digested in the body.

Most of carbohydrates products come from complex carbohydrate and naturally containing sugars instead of refined or processed sugars, the others are from simple carbohydrate.  

Additionally, complex and simple carbohydrates are transformed into glucose (which is known as blood sugar) and are usually used as energy. Notably, refined sugars are usually referred to as empty calories due to the fact that they contain less amount (or none) of nutritional value.
