\sqrt{3} =3^{\frac{1}{2}}

so

\sqrt{3}*\sqrt{3} =3^{\frac{1}{2}} *3^{\frac{1}{2}} \\ =(3*3)^{\frac{1}{2}}  \\= (9)^{\frac{1}{2}}=\sqrt{9}
