What can I put on the carpet to keep the dog from peeing on it?

I would try getting the dog a pee pad so the dog will be attracted to the smell of the pad and pee on that. You will still have to clean it, but it's better than having to mop the floor and have pee smell.

Either that or have a professional help you teach your dog how to pee outside.
