Answer:

D. Save you breathe, Mr. Scrooge. You can't be seen or heard.

Explanation:

The apparition of Scrooge's dead accomplice, Marley, visits him. Marley is wearing chains and is sentenced to hopelessness in existence in the wake of death in the wake of neglecting to do anything useful for mankind.

The Ghost of Christmas Past visits Scrooge and takes him on a voyage through Scrooge's youth, helping him to remember the sister he adored and those he has baffled with his absence of sympathy.

The Ghost of Christmas Present shows Scrooge the homes of his agent and his nephew, where toasts are made to Scrooge's wellbeing and families commend the season, notwithstanding their poverty.

Which of the following best summarizes one central idea of the passage from "Mother Tongue"?
nadezda [96]

Answer :

The following sentence best summarizes one central idea of the passage from "Mother Tongue" :

A.The expression of experience through language is more powerful when different forms of English are accepted.

Tan has a firm belief that nonstandard forms of English are legitimate languages in their own right.

Excerpts from the text that support this answer are :

1. "But to me, my mother's  English is perfectly clear, perfectly natural. It's my mother tongue. Her language, as I hear it, is vivid,  direct, full of observation and imagery. That was the language that helped shape the way I saw things,  expressed things, made sense of the world."

2. "-I began to write stories using all the  Englishes I grew up with: the English I spoke to my mother, which for lack of a better term might be  described as "simple"; the English she used with me, which for lack of a better term might be described as  "broken"; my translation of her Chinese, which could certainly be described as "watered down"; and what I  imagined to be her translation of her Chinese if she could speak in perfect English, her internal language,  and for that I sought to preserve the essence, but neither an English nor a Chinese structure. I wanted to capture what language ability tests can never reveal: her intent, her passion, her imagery, the rhythms of her  speech and the nature of her thoughts."

Which element of plot is in this passage?
dmitriy555 [2]

Answer:

Exposition

Explanation:

Plot is, basically, a sequence of events that makes the story.

It has five basic parts or elements:

- exposition (introduction) where the main characters and setting are introduced

- rising action is a part where the main conflict is introduces

- climax is a part where the conflict is being resolved and is the turning point of the story

- falling action is a part where we see the results and consequences of the actions taken during the climax

- resolution is an ending part of the story

Now, in the given passage, we get to know about Ashley's characteristics, the way she spends her days or maybe start drawing some conclusions about her. We don't know what will happen next, only some information about the character. So, the best answer would be that this passage is an introduction.
