How does prokaryotic cell division differ from eukaryotic cell division?

Biology

Cell division is simpler in prokaryotes than eukaryotes because prokaryotic cells themselves are simpler. Prokaryotic cells have a single circular chromosome, no nucleus, and few other organelles. Eukaryotic cells, in contrast, have multiple chromosomes contained within a nucleus, and many other organelles.

The human genome comprises just over 3.1 billion base pairs. Assuming average nucleosome spacing throughout the genome, how many
Ymorist [56]

Answer:

Option C, 32 million

Explanation:

As per standard rule -

Number of base pair per nucleosome is equal to 200

Now, the total number of base pair in human genome is 3.1 billion.

Number of nucleosome in 3.1 billion base pairs is equal to

\frac{3.1* 10^9}{200} \\= 1.55 * 10^ 7

These are diploid cells and hence the number of nucleosomes will be 2n

Hence, the total number of nucleosomes are

1.55 * 10^7 * 2\\3.1 * 10^7\\

Hence, option C is correct

Suppose two brown haired parents have a red haired child what are the genotypes of each parent? And what % for them to have red
Savatey [412]
1) B- brown; b- red hair

Having brown hair is a dominant trait while red hair is recessive.
If the parents had a red-haired child it means they were carriers of the red hair trait, so their genotype is Bb

2)
Getting their genotypes together would result in the possibilities that you see at the image below.
1/4 = 25% BB - brown
2/4 = 50% Bb brown but carrier
1/4 = 25% bb red hair
Answer: 25%

3) The genotype of the child, as i said before would be bb. By having both alleles being recessive the child will show red-hair. If it was any other genotype( BB or Bb), the child would have brown hair, like their parents.

What will happen to the sand when you pour water into the river??
Ainat [17]

When we mix sand and water, no reaction takes place. The sand simply settles down at the bottom of the water container. This is because sand is heavier than water and hence cannot float in water. ... In comparison, if we mix something like salt or sugar in water, they will react and make the water salty or sweet.

Crocodiles that ignore birds cleaning their teeth instead of eating them is an example of __________.
Anettt [7]

Option (B) Habituation is the right answer.

Crocodiles that ignore birds cleaning their teeth instead of eating them is an example of habituation.

Crocodile and avian mutualism—is it real?

 • One of nature's best instances of mutualism is the interaction between a Nile crocodile and an Egyptian plover bird.
 • A crocodile will simply open his mouth and wait when he needs to floss.
 • The plover bird will involuntarily swoop down and grab meat scraps from the crocodile's gaping jaws.

Why do crocodiles develop a habit of approaching the birds that brush their teeth?

 • It is a phenomenon of evolution that when a bird used to sit in a crocodile's mouth, the crocodile didn't eat it; instead, the crocodile used to allow the bird to sit in the mouth and clean the crocodile's teeth so that they can live longer, whereas the birds could get the free food from the crocodile's mouth.
 • It is an illustration of how the two are mutually beneficial.
 • The same is true now because crocodiles have adapted to the fact that birds will clean their teeth, so rather than consuming them, they ignore the birds.
