Hey user!!

your answer is here...

let the two numbers be x and y.

ATQ, their difference is 1.6

therefore x - y = 1.6

x = y + 1.6

sum of the two numbers = 6.1

==> x + y = 6.1

==> y + 1.6 + y = 6.1

==> 2y + 1.6 = 6.1

==> 2y = 6.1 - 1.6

==> 2y = 4.5

==> y = 4.5/2

==> y = 2.25

hence,

first number = x = y + 1.6

= 2.25 + 1.6

= 3.85

second number = y

= 2.25

cheers!!

For this case, the first thing we must do is define variables:
 x: unknown number (1)
 y: unknown number (2)
 We now write the equations that model the problem:
 their sum is 6.1:
 x + y = 6.1

 their difference is 1.6:
 x - y = 1.6

 Solving the system we have:
 We add both equations:
 x + x = 6.1 + 1.6

2x = 7.7

x = 7.7 / 2

x = 3.85
 Then, we look for the value of y using any of the equations:
 x - y = 1.6

y = x - 1.6

y = 3.85 - 1.6

y = 2.25
 Answer:

The numbers are:

x = 3.85

y = 2.25

Kruka [31]

Answer:

  (x, y) ⇒ (x -2, y +2)

Step-by-step explanation:

Reflection across the line y = x+2 has the effect of interchanging x and y and translating by (-2, 2).

Reflection across the line y = x+4 has the effect of interchanging x and y and translating by (-4, 4).

The composition of these transformations is then ...

  (x, y) ⇒ ((x +2) -4, (y -2) +4) = (x -2, y +2)
