Answer:

  use your compass to copy the length to a new line

Step-by-step explanation:

To make a line segment that has the same length as another, set your compass width to the length of the one you want to copy, and use that to mark the length on the line where you want your copy.

Use a straightedge to draw a line longer than JK.

  1. Label a point on that line A.
  2. Set your compass to the length JK.
  3. Mark that length from point A on the line you drew. Label the mark D.

AD is congruent to JK.

Kathy bicycles 8km/h faster than Dennis. In my he same time it takes Dennis to bicycle 36 km, Kathy can bicycle 60 km. How fast
Sergeeva-Olga [200]

Dennis = 12 km'h

Kathy = 20 km/h

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Lets first establish  that time is the same for both Kathy and Dennis and we can therefore assign is the value of <em>t</em>
  • Kathy is cycling 8km/h faster than Dennis. Therefore if Dennis is doing <em>x </em>km/h Kathy is doing (<em>x</em>+8)km/h
  • If it takes Kathy<em> t </em>time to cycle for 60 km at (<em>x</em>+8)km/h, we can derive the time <em>t </em>as;

(<em>x</em>+8)* <em>t </em>= 60

<em>t</em> = 60/(<em>x</em>+8)

  • We can now use this time to establsish how fast Dennis is cycling. Dennis, using a speed of <em>x</em> km/h takes the same time (60/(<em>x</em>+8)) to cycle for 36 km. Therefore;

<em>x</em> * 60/(x+8) = 36

= 60x/(x+8) = 36

36 (x + 8) = 60x

36x + 288 = 60x

288 = 60x – 36x

288 = 24x

12 =<em> x </em>

Dennis is cycling at 12 km/h

Kathy is doing x + 8

= 12 + 8 = 20 km/h

9966 [12]

Answer:

67 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Step one:

given

The area of a rectangular warehouse measures 4,288 square feet

The width of the warehouse is 64 feet long.

Required:

the length of the warehouse

Step two:

The expression for the area of a rectangle is

A= L*W

so, for the situation

4,288= L*64

solve for L

divide both sides by 64

L= 4,288/64

L=67 feet
