The area of the rectangular piece of cloth is

A = length*width = 9*3 = 27 square feet

The area of the square piece of cloth is

A = side*side = 5*5 = 25

---------

Add up the two results:

27+25 = 52

So Latisha has a total of 52 square feet of cloth.

Since she needs 60 square feet of cloth, she does not have enough cloth.

She needs 60-52 = 8 more square feet of additional cloth.
