Well If john has to pay

89.95 a month so 179.9$

He was given 95$ from the company so 179.9 - 95= 84.9

and he owes 12.75 for late fees so 84.9 + 12.75

He owes a grand total of 97.4$ to the phone company

seriously what class are you taking? It's like class for financial advisers geese...

first we do <u>$89.95 times 2, this results in $179.90</u>

then suddenly, John remembered that they gave him a $95 gift card, so we <u>subtract $179.90 from $95 to get $84.90</u>

then for some unknown reason he remembers that he received $12.75 from the company as well, which then brings us down to <u>$72.15</u>

Sorry John, should have paid your over priced phone bill when you had the chance

SOLUTION:

We are to find the rate of inflation in the given question;

The formula to be used is;

Inflation rate =

\frac{\text{CPI}_{present}-CPI_{previous}}{CPI_{previous}_{}}\text{ X 100}\begin{gathered} \frac{221-208}{208}\text{ X }\frac{100}{1} \\  \\ \frac{13}{208}X\frac{100}{1} \\  \\ 6.25\text{ \%} \\ 6.3\text{ \% (nearest tenth of a percentage)} \end{gathered}
