The problem has you solving 4x = 88 and the first step - which is the proper step - is to divide by 4 on both sides. What it does is the following:

--gets x alone on one side of the equation

--keeps the equation balanced because it's on both sides

--Undoes the multiplying. Dividing and multiplying are inverse, or, undoing operations. 4 and x are put together with multiplying - so we use dividing to take it apart.

The idea of using 4 because it's a factor is the wrong choice. If the equation were 5x = 88 and you divide by 4, you aren't getting a single 1x alone. So the "divide because it's a factor" choice is wrong.

Thus the upper left choice is NOT a good reason and is the best answer.

Dividing 4× by 4 isolates x on one side of the equation.

all they others is a good reason to divide by 4

How to solve this one
Stells [14]

Answer:

(-5,1)

Step-by-step explanation:

Add it together

3x - 2x = x

y - y = 0

9 - 14 = -5

x = -5

Choose a random equation, doesn't matter.

3x + y = -14

3(-5) + y = -14

-15 + y = -14

y = -14 + 15

y = 1

Tema [17]

Answer: 1.06^t.

Step-by-step explanation: We are given expression 1.06^t.

And 1.06^t expression is converted in (1.06^{1/2})^{2t}.

Now, we need to transform the expression into a single exponent expression using the properties of exponents.

We know, according to the properties of exponents

(a^m)^n = a^{m\times n}

Applying same rule in given expression, we get

(1.06^{1/2})^{2t} = (1.06)^{\frac{1}{2} \times 2t}

On simplifying exponents, we would get t in exponent.

=  1.06^t.
