They can pass it on to other Senators, which no one can object do, and each Senator does not have a limited amount of time. They can even read from a phone book if they want to. While a Senator is talking, no one can interrupt the Senator. A vote can stop the filibuster and force a vote, called the cloture.

1) Greece is an archipelago, so the different city states that rose were isolated by the Mediterranean Sea
2) Greece is very mountainous, so the city states that arose on the mainland, or smaller islands were separated by the mountains.
1a) Benefit - Life could improve. With a larger nation taking over, there will be more resources
1b) Problem - Things will change. It is impossible for life to continue as before.
2) I would rather have a protectorate rule because it would mean that my country would be able to govern itself through its own internal government (though it would still be controlled by an outside power).
