Several risk factors are involved in sexual abstinence among teenagers. Some of these reasons include- age, avoiding pregnancy, preventing HIV and STIs and some social factors too. Social factors play an important role in this, like- a social barrier has been set to restrict sexual activity before marriage.

Another important risk factor includes- active talking regarding sexual decisions. Through this a person came across the risks of getting sexually involved which may abstain them from intercourse.
