Yes - diffusion is a broad term that may be applied to a vast number of substances and is not limited to liquids ( gases can diffuse too). osmosis refers to the diffusion of liquid water down the water potential gradient

What that basically means is that homeostasis is the ability to respond to certain environments. It is how you respond to environmental changes and how you basically adapt to it.. that's where the idea of response and adaption came from.
