A rectangle with an area of 47 m² is dilated by a factor of 7. What is the area of the dilated rectangle?
MA_775_DIABLO [31]
We already know that the area of the rectangle increased by a square of the factor 7. So the dilated area of it (which we will call "Ad"), is:

 Ad= (47)(7^2)
 Ad= 47x49
 Ad= 2303 m^2

 What is the area of the dilated rectangle? The area of the dilated rectangle is 2303 m^2.

Prove the following identity true. Show work.
yulyashka [42]

Answer:

The  Pythagorean identity states that

\sin^2 t + \cos^2 t = 1

Using that we can rewrite the left denominator as:

1 - \sin^2 t

Which can be factored as

(1 - \sin t)(1+ \sin t)

The numerator we can expand as:

(1 - \sin t)(1 - \sin t)

On the right hand side, let's multply numerator and denominator with (1 - sin t):

The total formula then becomes:

\dfrac{(1-\sin t)(1-\sin t)}{(1 - \sin t)(1 + \sin t)} = \dfrac{(1-\sin t)(1 - \sin t)}{(1+\sin t)(1 - \sin t)}

There you go... left and right are equal.

Given a group of 17 people in a party, we consider the number of times a person shakes hand with someone else. Show that there i
aev [14]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that there is a group of 17 people in a party.  There takes place a number of hand shakes between them.

To show that there is always two people who shake hands with the same total number of people.

If possible let each person did a different number of handshake.

We know that since there are 17 people, there cannot be more than 16 hand shakes for any one in the group.

Hence if different hand shakes must be 0,1,2...16

Consider the last person having 16 hand shakes. He has shaken hand with each other person in the group thus making it clear that no one could have done 0 hand shakes.   Since we get a contradiction, our assumption was wrong. That is, there is always two people who shake hands with the same total number of people.

Suppose that the function fis defined on the interval (-2,2) as follows. <br>find f(-1) f(0.5) f(1)
frosja888 [35]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello,

-1 <= -1 < 0

so f(-1)=-1

0 <= 0.5 < 1

so f(0.5)=0

1 <= 1 < 2

so f(1)=1

Thank you.
