y = 1 ..........2

Substitute y = 1 into the first equation

y = –5x + 3

1 = - 5x + 3

-5x = 1-3

- 5x = - 2

Divide both sides by - 2

x = 2/5 or 0.4

x = 0.4 y = 1

The solution to the above system of equations is ( 0.4 , 1)
