Answer: 714.285 nm

Explanation:

The diffraction angles \theta_{n} when we have a slit divided into n parts are obtained by the following equation:

d sin\theta_{n}=n \lambda (1)

Where:

d is the width of the slit

\lambda is the wavelength of the light

n is an integer different from zero

Now, the first-order diffraction angle is given when n=1, hence equation (1) is rewritten as:

dsin\theta_{1}=\lambda (2)

We know:

\theta_{1}=30\°

In addition we are told the diffraction grating has 700 lines per mm, this means:

d=\frac{1mm}{700}

Solving (2) with the known values we will find \lambda:

\lambda=(\frac{1mm}{700})sin(30\°) (3)

\lambda=0.000714285 mm (4)

Knowing 1mm=10^{6}nm:

\lambda=714.285 nm This is the wavelength of the light

A man is dragging a trunk up the loading ramp of a mover’s truck. The ramp has a slope angle of 20.0°, and the man pulls upward
AleksandrR [38]

Answer:

(a)  104 N

(b) 52 N

Explanation:

Given Data

Angle of inclination of the ramp: 20°

F makes an angle of 30° with the ramp

The component of F parallel to the ramp is Fx = 90 N.

The component of F perpendicular to the ramp is Fy.

(a)

Let the +x-direction be up the incline and the +y-direction by the perpendicular to the surface of the incline.

Resolve F into its x-component from Pythagorean theorem:

Fx=Fcos30°

Solve for F:

F= Fx/cos30°

Substitute for Fx from given data:

Fx=90 N/cos30°

   =104 N

(b) Resolve r into its y-component from Pythagorean theorem:

     Fy = Fsin 30°

   Substitute for F from part (a):

     Fy = (104 N) (sin 30°)

          = 52 N

A machine can never be 100% efficient because some work is always lost due to what?
katrin [286]

A machine can never be 100% efficient because some work is always lost due to the lack of materials or equipment that would convert work by 100%. It follows the second law of entropy. The ideal engine is known as Carnot’s engine having a 100% efficiency. So far, no engine has ever gotten to 100%.
