(3r+6) *2 = 9*(2r-4)

6r+12 = 18r-36 distribute

Solve for x 1.x=1 and 2over 3
kogti [31]

Answer:

x = 1 and 2/3 or x = 1 2/3

Step-by-step explanation:

Simplify both sides of equation

1 * x = 1 2/3

1 * x is 1x which is the same as x because there is one x

then for the improper fraction which is 1 2/3

to simplify improper fractions we times the whole number by the denominator

so 1 * 3 then add the numerator 2 and the denominator stays the same so we get x = 5/3

now we have x = 5/3 this is not correct because the numerator is bigger than the denominator so we just subtract the denominator from the numerator and how many times 3 goes into 5 (in this case 1) becomes the new whole number.

therefore we get x = 1 2/3

You and a friend are playing a game of chance. Every time you roll a 1 or 2 you are successful, and your friend will pay you $1.
Viktor [21]

Considering the mean of a discrete distribution, you are expected to earn $0.13 by the end of the game.

What is the mean of a discrete distribution?

The expected value of a discrete distribution is given by the sum of each outcome multiplied by it's respective probability.

Since 71% of your rolls are successful and 29% of your rolls are unsuccessful, the distribution of your earnings is:

 • P(X = 1) = 0.71.
 • P(X = -2) = 0.29

Hence the expected value is:

E(X) = 1 x 0.71 - 2 x 0.29 = 0.71 - 0.58 = 0.13
