b. Are events J and B mutually exclusive? Why or why not?
c. Joe, who is not a business student, attended the job fair. What is the probability that he received a job offer?

Answer:

A) Both events are not independent.

B) Both events are not mutually exclusive

C) 8.33%

D) 80%

Step-by-step explanation:

A) Both events are not independent. This is because, If B occurs it means that it is very likely that J will occur as well.

B) Both events are not mutually exclusive. This is because it is possible for both events J and B to occur at the same time.

C) we want to find the probability that Joe who is not a business student will receive the job offer.

This is;

P(J|Not B) = P(J & Not B)/P(Not B)

Now,

P(J & Not B) = P(J) – (P(B) × P(J | B))

25% of the students who attended received job offers. Thus; P(J) = 0.25

40% were from the College of Business. Thus;

P(B) = 0.4

Among the business students, 50% received job offers. Thus;

P(J|B) = 0.5

Thus;

P(J & Not B) = 0.25 - (0.4 × 0.5)

P(J & Not B) = 0.25 - 0.2

P(J & Not B) = 0.05

Since P(B) = 0.4

Then, P(Not B) = 1 - 0.4 = 0.6

Thus;

P(J|Not B) = 0.05/0.6

P(J|Not B) = 0.0833 = 8.33%

D) This probability is represented by;

P(B | J) = P(B & J)/P(J)

P(B & J) = (P(B) × P(J | B)) = (0.4 × 0.5) = 0.2

P(B | J) = 0.2/0.25

P(B | J) = 0.8 = 80%

Sutopa has 3/4 of the money Maneet has. Maneet has $18 less than Kim. Together, they have $286.40. How much money does each of t
anastassius [24]

Solving a system of equations we can see:

  • Sutopa has $73.20
  • Maneet has $97.60
  • Kim has $115.60

<h3>How much money each of them has?</h3>

First, let's define the variables:

  • S =  money that Sutopa has.
  • M = money that Maneet has.
  • K = money that Kim has.

We can write the system of equations:

S = (3/4)*M

M = K - $18

S + M + K = $286.40

First, we can rewrite the second equation to get:

K = M + $18

Now we can replace the first and second equations into the third one:

(3/4)*M + M + (M + $18) = $286.40

Now we can solve this for M:

M*(1 + 1 + 3/4) = $286.40 - $18

M = $268.40*(4/11) = $97.60

Now we can find the other two values:

K = M + $18 =  $97.60 + $18 = $115.60

S =  (3/4)*M =  (3/4)*$97.60 = $73.20

Susan keeps track of the high and low temperatures every day for a week. The following table shows her data what is the average
uysha [10]

Answer:

10.75

Step-by-step explanation:

To get the average, we always SUM UP all the numbers and divide by the number of numbers.

We do this for "change" row since we want average of "change".

Let's add up all the changes:

11 + 12 + 10 + 10 + 11 + 10 + 11 = 75

How many numbers are there?

There are 7 numbers

Now, the average:

Average = Sum/Number of Numbers

Average = \frac{75}{7}=10.75

The average = 10.75
