<u>Answer: </u>

Equation of a line that is perpendicular to y = 3x-4 and that passes through the point (2 -3) is  y=-\frac{1}{3} x-\frac{7}{3}

<u>Solution: </u>

The slope - intercept form equation of line is given as

y = mx+c    ----- (1)

Where m is the slope of the line. The coefficient of “x” is the value of slope of the line.

Given that

3x  -y = 4

Converting above equation in slope intercept form,

y = 3x - 4 ----  (2)

On comparing equation (1) and (2) we get slope of equation (2) is m=3

Consider equation of the line which is perpendicular to equation (2) is y=m_{1} x+b --- eqn 3

If two lines having slope m1 and m1 are perpendicular then relation between their slope is m_{1} m_{2}=-1

That is if slope of the line (2) is 3 then slope of equation (3) is  m_{1}=-\frac{1}{3}

On substituting value of m1 in equation (3), we get

y=-\frac{1}{3} x+b --- eqn 4

Given that equation (4) passes through (2, -3) that is x = 2 and y = -3. So on substituting value of x and y in equation (4),

-3=-\frac{2}{3}+b

On simplifying above equation,

\begin{aligned} b &=\frac{2}{3}-3 \\ b &=\frac{2-9}{3} \\ b &=-\frac{7}{3} \end{aligned}

On substituting value of b in equation (4),

y=-\frac{1}{3} x-\frac{7}{3}

Hence equation of a line that is perpendicular to y=3x-4 and that passes through the point (2 -3)  is y=-\frac{1}{3} x-\frac{7}{3}

Simplified product ?
mel-nik [20]

Answer:

Last choice is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

\left(\sqrt{10x^4}-x\sqrt{5x^2}\right)\left(2\sqrt{15x^4}+\sqrt{3x^3}\right)

\left(x^2\sqrt{10}-x\cdot x\sqrt{5}\right)\left(2\cdot x^2\sqrt{15}+x\sqrt{3x}\right)

\left(x^2\sqrt{10}-x^2\sqrt{5}\right)\left(2x^2\sqrt{15}+x\sqrt{3x}\right)

x^2\sqrt{10}\left(2x^2\sqrt{15}+x\sqrt{3x}\right)-x^2\sqrt{5}\left(2x^2\sqrt{15}+x\sqrt{3x}\right)

2x^4\sqrt{150}+x^3\sqrt{30x}-2\sqrt{75}x^4-x^3\sqrt{15x}

2x^4\cdot5\sqrt{6}+x^3\sqrt{30x}-2\cdot5\sqrt{3}x^4-x^3\sqrt{15x}

10x^4\sqrt{6}+x^3\sqrt{30x}-10\sqrt{3}x^4-x^3\sqrt{15x}

10x^4\sqrt{6}+x^3\sqrt{30x}-10x^4\sqrt{3}-x^3\sqrt{15x}

Hence final answer is 10x^4\sqrt{6}+x^3\sqrt{30x}-10x^4\sqrt{3}-x^3\sqrt{15x}

A battalion of 520 soldiers goes through 16,380 pounds of rations in 3 weeks. If 780 more soldiers join the battalion, how many
Scorpion4ik [409]

They would need 34.125 tons of rations.

In order to find this, we first need to see how many pounds of rations a single soldier eats in a week. To do this, we take the total eaten in 3 weeks and divide by 3. Then we divide by the number of soldiers.

16,380/3 weeks= 5460 lbs per week

5460/520 soldiers = 10.5 lbs per soldier per week

Now we look to see how many soldiers we will have in total after adding. There are 520 to start and we add 780 to get 1300 total. Next we multiply that by the total per soldier per week.

10.5lbs per soldier per week * 1300 soldiers = 13,650lbs per week

Then we have to multiply by the 5 weeks that battalion will be there.

13,650lbs * 5 weeks = 68,250lbs of rations or 24.125 tons.

Which two of the following is continuous data?
Alla [95]

Answer:

B. Age of student

D. Time taken to run 1 mile

Step-by-step explanation:

From the list of given options, only B and D satisfy the required condition.

One unique determinant of continuous data is that; they are measured and not counted.

Now, let's categorize option A to D into two

1. Counted data

2. Measured data

Options that fall into the category of measured data are said to be continuous data.

A. Concert attendance; The number of people in a concert is counted

B. The age of a student is measured (in years)

C. Number of pens in a box is counted

D. Time taken to run 1 mile is measured (in units like seconds, minutes, hours, etc...)

In summary; we have

Counted

A. Concert Attendance

C. Number of pens in a box

Measured

B. Age of a student

D. Time taken to run 1 mile

Hence, the continuous data are Age of a student and Time taken to run 1 mile
