Since they are working together, you need to add the 5 hours and 3 hours together which if 8 hours.

Then you need to divide the 8 hours to 2.

The answer is 4 hours if Jay and David paint a house together.

5  *  3
=  8

8/2
=4

I hope my answer helped you.
Have a great day!

Jay can paint 1 house in 5 hours
jay can paint 1/5 house in 1 hour

david can paint 1 house in 3 hours
david can paint 1/3 house in 1 hour

ok, so
in 1 hour, they can paint 1/5+1/3 house
1/5+1/3=3/15+5/15=8/15 house

so
8/15 house per hour times x hours=1 house
times both sides by 15/8
x=15/8 hours
x=1 and 7/8 hour

it will take 1 and 7/8 hour or 1.875 hour or 1 hour and 52.5mins

The area of a square is increasing at a rate of 24 centimeters squared per second. Find the rate of change of the side of the sq
velikii [3]

Answer:

3cm/s

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of a square is expressed as:

A = L²

Rate of change of area is expressed as:

dA/dt = dA/dL•dL/dt

Given that

dA/dt = 24cm²/s

L = 4cm

Required

dL/dt

Since dA/dl = 2L

dA/dl = 2(4)

dA/dl = 8cm

Subatitute the given values into the formula

24 = 8 dL/dt

dL/dt = 24/8

dL/dt = 3cm/s

A surveyor measures a road as being 69.3km long, however there is a 1℅ error in this measurement .What is the true length of the
Vaselesa [24]

Answer:

69.993

Step-by-step explanation:

Using the percentage error formula:

Percentage error = (true - measured value / true measurement ) * 100%

1% error in measurement

1% of 69.3

0.01 * 69.3 = 0.693

True measurement = error in measurement + measured value

True measurement = 0.693 + 69.3

Actual measurement = 69.993

Hence, actual measurement = 69.993.

The hypotenuse of a 45°-45°-90° triangle measures 128 cm. A right triangle is shown. The length of the hypotenuse is 128 centime
Aleks [24]

Answer:

64√2 or 64 StartRoot 2 EndRoot

Step-by-step explanation:

A 45-45-90 traingle is a special traingle.  Let's say one of the leg of the triangle is x. The other one is also x because of the isosocles triangle theorem.  Therefore, using the pytagorean theorem, you find that x^2+x^2=c^2.  2(x)^2=c^2.  You then square root both sides and get c= x√2.

Therefore, the two legs are x and the hypotenuse is x√2.  x√2=128 because the question says that the hypotenuse is 128.  Solve for x by dividing both sides by √2.  X=128/√2.  You rationalize it by multiplying the numberator and denominator of the fraction by √2.  √2*√2= 2.

X=(128√2)/2= 64√2 cm.

Since X is the leg, the answer would be 64√2
