In experimental Procedure, Part A.1. For preparing a set of standard solutions of FeNCS2+, the equilibrium molar concentration o

f FeNCS2+ is assumed to equal the initial molar concentration of the SCN- in the reaction mixture. Why is this assumption valid?A) The high concentration of the iron ion ensures that the reaction is favored to go to the rightB) The high concentration of the SCN- ion ensures that the reaction is favored to the rightC) The low concentration of the iron ion ensures that the reaction is favored to go to the rightD) This reaction will not reach equilibrium

Answer:

The high concentration of the iron ion ensures that the reaction is favored to go to the right

Explanation:

According to Le Chateliers principle, when a constraint such as a change in concentration, pressure or volume is imposed on a chemical system in equilibrium, the system will readjust itself in order to annul the constraint. This is done by shifting the position of equilibrium, either to the left hand side or the right hand side depending on the requirement of the system based on the imposed constraint. Equilibrium his now reestablished in the system as a result of this readjustment.

Since there is a high(excess) concentration of iron in the system, it can be safely assumed that the equilibrium concentration of the FeNCS2+ is equal to the initial concentration of SCN- ion present. This implies that the equilibrium position moves towards the right hand side according to Le Chateliers principle.

18.0 mL of water contains 6.022 x 1023 water molecules. How many hydrogen atoms are in 1.00 L of water? (Each water molecule, H2
brilliants [131]

Solution :

lt is given that in 18 mL of water their are 6.022\times 10^{23} water molecules.

We know, that 1 molecule of water contains 2 atoms of hydrogen.

Hydrogen atom in 18 mL water is,

2\times 6.022\times 10^{23} = 12.044 \times 10^{23} .

So, number of hydrogen atoms in 1 L = 1000 mL are :

N = \dfrac{1000}{18}\times 12.044\times 10^{23}\\\\N = 6.69 \times 10^{25}\ atoms

Hence, this is the required solution.

Which two scenarios illustrate the relationship between pressure and volume as described by Boyle’s law?
Airida [17]

The correct answer is option 2 and 3.

The two scenarios that illustrate the relationship between pressure and volume as described by Boyle’s law are as follows:

2. The volume of an underwater bubble increases as it rises and the pressure decreases.

3. The pressure increases in an inflated plastic bag when the bag is stepped on.

According to Boyle's law, pressure of a gas is inversely proportional to its volume at constant temperature. This means that pressure rises as the volume increases and vice versa.
