Answer: (4, 5)
Work:
Substitute the y in the second problem with y=x+1
3x-2(x+1)=5
3x-2x+1=5
x=4
Now solve for y
y=4+1
y=5

1st: You plug x+1 in for the value of y of the equation 3x-2y=5
2nd: Then you solve the equation 3x-2(x+1)=5
You will need to distribute the -2 into the x and 1 that is in the parentheses
You will then get 3x-2x-2=5
Then combine like terms which are 3x and -2x
You get x-2=5, then you will just add the 2 to both sides so then you will get x=7
3rd:Then you substitute the 7 that you just got in for the value of x for the equation y=x+1
4th:The equation would now be y=(7)+1
So then you will just add 7 and 1 together and you get y=8
*Your final answer is (7,8)*

Jay Spring pays $350.00 annually for his health insurance. This is 1/3 of the total cost of the premium; his company pays the re
VashaNatasha [74]
$1,800 (10%) = $180
jay pays 10% of the expenses beyond the deductible so you multiply the amount beyond the deductible by 10%.
$1,800 - $180 = $1,620
or
$1,800 (90%) = $1,620
you subtract what jay pays from the total or you multiply the total by 90%

jay pays $180 of the expenses past the deductible (not including his $200 deductible) and his insurance company pays $1,620.

Is a measure of 25 inches "far away" from a mean of 16 inches? As someone with knowledge of statistics, you answer "it depen
erik [133]

Answer:

a) 25 is 3 standard deviation from the mean

b) Is far away from the mean, only 0,3 % away from the right tail

c) 25 is pretty close to the mean (just a little farther from 1 standard deviation)

Step-by-step explanation:

We have a Normal Distribution with mean 16 in.

Case a) we also have a standard deviation of 3 inches

3* 3 = 9

16 (the mean) plus 3*σ  equal 25 in. the evaluated value, then the value is 3 standard deviation from the mean

Case b) 25 is in the range of 99,7 % of all value, we can say that value is far away from the mean, considering that is only 0,3 % away from the right tail

Case c) If the standard deviation is 7 then

mean + 1*σ  =  16 + 7 =23

25> 23

25 is pretty close to the mean only something more than 1 standard deviation
