B) Diploid - Only Gametes are Haploid. Every other cells are somatic cells which are diploid. They contain 46 chromosomes rather than 23 that the haploid carry. Neurons and glial cells make up of the brain and that makes up the nervous tissue. Just remember Gametes (sex cells) are the only cells that are haploids.

Genes have many regulatory sites that control gene expression, one of these is called the enhancer.
madam [21]

Answer:

a) The enhancer site is a distal control site many nucleotides upstream from the promoter site, and activates the initiation complex of transcription.

Explanation:

Enhancers are the regulatory DNA sequences that are generally located quite away from the coding regions of a gene. These sequences are mostly present upstream of promoter sequences. Enhancers regulate the gene expression by stimulating the formation of an active transcription initiation complex and thereby, increase the rate of RNA synthesis. Enhancers also serve as the binding site for specific regulatory proteins. These proteins bound to the enhancers then activate transcription by interacting with the proteins bound to the promoters.

Mashutka [201]

Answer:

1) selective permeability of the cell membrane refers to It's ability to differentiate between different types of molecules, only allowing some molecules through while blocking others. Some of this selective property stems from the intrinsic diffusion rates for different molecules across a membrane.

Which of the following best describes the significance of the TATA box in eukaryotic promoters?
ankoles [38]

Answer:

The correct option is A.

Explanation:

TATA box refers to a  non coding sequence of DNA that is found in the promoter regions of eukaryotic genes. The TATA box serves as the binding sites for certain proteins and some transcriptions factors in eukaryotic genes; it signifies the points where transcription begins. Transcription is the process by which the genetic information in DNA is replicated into an mRNA. This is the first step in protein synthesis.  The name TATA was derived from the nucleotide bases that are always present in large number a the site. T stands for thymine while A represents the adenine base.

What constitutes the most serious type of accident which could occur at a nuclear power plant?
Elza [17]
The most serious type of accident which could occur at a nuclear power plant is <span>core meltdown caused by a failure of water to circulate among the fuel rods.
This is what happened in F.ukushima, Japan, in 2011, after a series of devastating earthquakes and tsunamis. This is why F.ukushima is still experiencing extremely high levels of radiation and parts of that area cannot be inhabited anymore.
