What is the strategy of controlling one small island after another
kaheart [24]

Island Hopping               After the Battle of Midway, the United States launched a counter-offensive strike known as "island-hopping," establishing a line of overlapping island bases, as well as air control. The idea was to capture certain key islands, one after another, until Japan came within range of American bombers. Led by General Douglas MacArthur, Commander of the Allied forces in the Southwest Pacific, and Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, Commander-in-Chief of the Pacific Fleet, the first stage of the offensive began with the Navy under Nimitz, and Marine landings on Guadalcanal and nearby islands in the Solomons. From that point on, Nimitz and MacArthur engaged in "island-hopping" amphibious drives that bypassed strongly-held islands to strike at the enemy's weak points. In an effort to liberate the people of the Philippine Islands, MacArthur pushed along the New Guinea coast with Australian allies, while Nimitz crossed the central Pacific by way of the Gilberts, Marshalls, Marianas, Carolines, and Palaus. Both campaigns would entail seemingly endless, bloody battles — ultimately leading to the unconditional surrender of the Japanese.

Explanation:

A Supreme Court case declared segregated schools are against their constitution. The rule separate but equal was no longer valid after this. The General assembly in Georgia opposed to this ruling and declared it null and void.

After this, all the public schools who decided to segregate were closed in Georgia and also the funding was stopped. The National flag was changed and several other steps were taken to show resistance against the new enforcement.

Which statement best describes the controversy between imperials such as beveridge and anti imperialists over the terms of the t
Paha777 [63]

Hello. You forgot to show the answer options. The options are:

They disagreed over the annexation of Cuba. They disagreed over the annexation of Hawaii. They disagreed over the acquisition of the Philippines. They disagreed over the purchase of Puerto Rico and Guam.

Answer:

They disagreed over the acquisition of the Philippines

Explanation:

The controversy arose over the acquisition of the Philippines. This is because the Republicans wanted to acquire the Philippines, but the Democrats believed that this would not be necessary and would not bring government benefits, but would make the USA an imperialist government, similar to the British government that the USA fought against. Republicans, on the other hand, insisted on the acquisition, as they believed that the Philippines could provide raw materials for American industry and that the US could help the Philippines financially.
