Using the place value chart, we can see that the decimal 0.4 is four tenths, so we can write 0.4 as the fraction \frac{4}{10}. Notice however that the fraction is not in lowest terms. We will need to divide the numerator and the denominator by the greatest common factor of 4 and 10 which is 2. Therefore, 0.4 can be written as the fraction \frac{2}{5}, which is in lowest terms.

We can change a decimal to a percent by moving the decimal point 2 places to the right. In this problem, to change 0.40 to a percent, we move the decimal point 2 places to the right. When we have done this, we can add the percent sign so we have 40%. 0.40 can be read as 40 hundredths, or \frac{40}{100} which we know is 40%.

Three students out of a group of 10 seniors will be chosen to speak in front of the school. What is the probability that Ben, Ma
Luba_88 [7]
3 out of 10

hm, if order does not matter
then it is 3/10 that one of the 3 is chosen
assuming that one was chosen, we now have a probablity of 2/9
then the last is 1/8

so the ending probablity will be 3/10 times 2/9 times 1/8 or 6/720 or 1/120

the probablity will be 1/120

if the order does matter then it is
1/10 times 1/9 times 1/8 or 1/720 because there is 1 choice for each

Two concentric circles with different radii share how many common tangent lines?
Dominik [7]
The answer is a.0

Concentric means these circles would have the same center, thus, the smaller circle must be inside the bigger circle. Any tangent line to the smaller circle wont be a tangent line to the bigger circle, since that tangent line would intersect at the bigger circle at 2 points. Any tangent line to the big circle will not touch the small circle... so the answer would be 0.

A car is on a Ferris wheel with a radius of 20 ft. To the nearest foot, how far does the car travel over an angle of
sertanlavr [38]

The car on a Ferris wheel with a radius of 20 feet. travels a distance of 125.6 feet.

In order to determine the distance that the car has travelled, we will use the formula for calculating the circumference of a circle.

How to calculate Circumference of a circle

C = 2πr

where

r = radius

Therefore,

r is the radius of the fairy wheel

r = 20 ft

C = 2 × 3.14 × 20

C = 40 × 3.14

C = 125.6 ft

This shows that the car on a Ferris wheel with a radius of 20 feet. travels a distance of 125.6 feet
