Well so you have to go with pemdas. p parenthesis, e exponets,m multipication, d division, a add, s subtract. let start with the parenthesis which is 8 plus negative four to the secondpower minus 6. so negative 4 to the second power is equal to positive sixteen because negative time negative is equal to positive. so 8 plus sixteen is 24-6 is 18. negative 12 divided by 3 is negative 4.so negative 4 time 18 is negative 72 plus 2 is negative 70.the answer is negative 70

Using PEMDAS to answer this, the steps are:
Parenthesis first, so (-8+(-4)^2-6)= 2
You now have -12/3 (2)+2
Next is multiplication, so 3(2)= 6
Now you have -12/6 +2
Next is division, so -12/6= -2
Now you have -2+2
Add them together to get the answer of 0
Hope this helped!

Use the quadratic formula to solve x2+7x+3. Show all of your work. Then describe the solution.
Mariana [72]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

The coefficients of the quadratic x^2 + 7x + 3 are a = 1, b = 7 and c = 3.

The discriminant is b^2 - 4ac, or 49 - 4(1)(3), or 49-12, or 37.

Because the discriminant is positive, we know that this quadratic equation has two real, different solutions.

      -7 ± √37

x = ---------------   =>   x = (-7 + √37)/2  and  x = (-7 - √37)/2

             2

In words:  This quadratic equation has two real, unequal solutions involving the radicand 37.
