A sample of an iron ore is dissolved in acid, and the iron is converted to Fe2+. The sample is then titrated with 47.20 mL of 0.

02240 M MnO4– solution. The oxidation-reduction reaction that occurs during titration is(a) How many moles of MnO4– were added to the solution? (b) How many moles of Fe2+ were in the sample?(c) How many grams of iron were in the sample? (d) If the sample had a mass of 0.8890 g, what is the percentage of iron in the sample?

Answer:

33.21% is the right answer.

Explanation:

0.04720 L * 0.02240 mol / L = 1.0573*10-3

mol Fe+2 = 1.0573* 10-3 mol = 5.2864*10-3

mass of Fe= 5.2864 * 10-3  = 0.29522g

% of Fe in sample = 0.29522 g Fe / 0.8890 g of sample * 100 = 33.21%

Suppose you were calibrating a 100.0 ml volumetric flask using distilled water. the flask temperature was at 20°c, and you assum
kicyunya [14]
The density of water at 12°C is lower than the density of water at 20°C.

Now density is related to volume as per: density = mass / volume =>

mass = volume * density.

So, the greaer the density the higher the mass of the same volume of water.

Therefore, 100.0 ml of water at 12°C has a mass greater than 100.00 ml of water at 20 °C.

Find the mass in grams of 5.34 *10^20 atoms of carbon molar mass 12g
emmasim [6.3K]

0.01068‬g

Explanation:

Given parameters :

Number of atoms = 5.34 x 10²⁰ atoms

Molar mass of carbon = 12g

Unknown:

Mass of carbon = ?

Solution:

A mole of a substance is unit that contains the Avogadro's number of particles.

   1 mole = 6.02 x 10²³ atoms ;

 In  5.34 x 10²⁰ ;

   Number of moles = \frac{5.34 x 10^{20} }{6.02 x 10^{23} }  = 8.9 x 10⁻⁴moles

Mass = number of moles  x molar mass = 8.9 x 10⁻⁴ x 12 = 0.01068‬g
