It helps in dilating blood vessels, and contract smooth muscles. It also slows the heart rate and increases body secretion.  

Thus if the action of acetylcholine is blocked, Mary started to slow in breathe and experience muscular paralysis and contaminated with botulism.

The reason México never established a long term democracy, is because there were many invasions and that made a country weaker than it should have been.
